This English oval locket is made of sterling silver and features a raised shield at its center made of carnelian. Carnelian is a symbol protection, and in the Roman era was thought to bring courage. In shield form, it symbolizes a double layer of protection for the wearer. The back of the locket is smooth and has English Hallmarks representing sterling silver, Birmingham and the date 1909, as well as the Maker, MJG. This talisman of strength pairs perfectly with an oxidized silver curb chain.
